How do Students Login and Play Sumdog?
How does Scoring in Team Competitions Work?
The results are split into score (correct answers) and attempts (attempted answers) and each is given as average/total. If your teams are different sizes the average number is more important because a larger class will be able to answer more questions but the average shows the approximate number of questions each student answered. So the score of 119/800 is better than 80/2348 because each student answered a higher percentage of correct questions even though the latter team answered more questions in total.
Look at the following example. In Stallings class, the children who have competed have an average score of 306.3 points but in Amos' class each student only got an average of 297 points even though more questions were answered by their team. It appears that there are more students partaking from Amos' class but each have answered less questions.
Why did our team Score Suddenly Drop?
The scores are an average of all Sumdog players on the team. If a player has not logged in, their score does not count towards the competition and they do not affect the average. However, if a player later logs in and begins playing, they will then affect the average. Their lower score will cause a sudden drop in the class average. So make sure all of your students login and play early.
